VUB expertise

The VUB Artificial Intelligence Lab is one of Europe’s pioneering AI research centers, founded in 1983. It focuses on both fundamental and applied AI research, covering areas like reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, and computational creativity. The lab’s work combines theoretical AI advances with real-world applications, addressing key challenges such as AI transparency and explainability. 

The Explainable AI project between Dattico and VUB University is a major step towards a future where AI will not only be efficient, but also understandable, transparent and responsible.
