By providing up to €50,000 in subsidies, it enables businesses to hire external experts for guidance in areas like international expansion, digital transformation, and innovation, helping them overcome growth challenges and achieve sustainable development.

What is the SME Growth Subsidy? The SME Growth Subsidy offers financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Flanders to help them grow by hiring external experts for strategic advice. The main areas of focus include international expansion, digital transformation, and innovation.

Participating SMEs will benefit from:

  • Strategic Guidance: Expert advice tailored to their specific business needs, whether for digital transformation or international growth.
  • Financial Assistance: Subsidies up to €50,000, covering 50% of the total cost of hiring an external expert​
  • Growth Focus: The program targets growth in key areas like innovation and international expansion, giving SMEs a competitive edge.

How to Participate

We can file the request for you

  • Eligibility: Flemish SMEs that want to hire external experts for strategic advice are eligible to apply.
  • Application: Submit a proposal outlining the growth trajectory and how the external expert will assist. The VLAIO agency will review and assess the application.
  • Work with Accredited Partners: SMEs collaborate with accredited partners, such as A Chief, who will handle the application process for a fee, ensuring a smooth and professional submission to VLAIO.

  • SMEs: The subsidy covers 50% of consultancy costs, up to €25,000 per project or €50,000 for internationalization projects. The remaining costs must be covered by the SME​
